BIOGRAPHY: Hager Densford and Homer Ambrose lived on part of the original farm purchased by Simeon Garriott in 1819 in Elk Creek Valley on Route 3, Scottsburg, Indiana. This land has never been out of the Garriott name. Hager was a soil conservationist like his ancestors and, "Continued to use forestry principles in the care of the family woodlands. Hager, along with his three sons, operated the farm and the family-owned sawmill in existence since 1933.47
Orville Lyman Garriott played the guitar and he, his wife, and family sang at nursing homes and churches around the area. Iva led Bible studies with the neighborhood youth for several years.
MILITARY:23 Hubert Milton Garriott served in the US Army [US 35.487.517] from 3 Aug 1942 until 23 Sep 1943. When inducted he was 20-5/6 years of age and by occupation a farm laborer. He had blue eyes, blonde hair, ruddy complexion, and was 5 feet __ in height. He was discharged by, "reason of Convn. of Govt, Sec X, AR 615-360," Ft Benjamin Harrison, IN.
BIOGRAPHY: Hager Jr Garriott, one time owner of the family farm, claimed to possess five property deeds signed by Presidents James Polk, Zachary Taylor, and James Buchanan. Most of Hager's life has been spent on the family farm. He operates Garriott's Hardwoods, a family sawmill operation in Gibson Township. He has served 25 years as secretary of the Elke Conservancy District and was on the Board of Directors of Washington County Memorial Hospital for 18 years and a Farm Bureau member. [_?_]
1987 OBITUARY: Margaret Amelia Allison, 71, of Scottsburg, died Wednesday, Oct 21, at the Scott Villa Living Center. She was a member of the Scottsburg Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Survivors include her son, Cecil Marvin Hay of Irving, TX, four brothers, George Garriott of Sun Lakes, AZ, Orville Garriott of Scottsburg, Hubert Garriott of Pekin, and Hager (Junior) Garriott of Scottsburg; a sister, Myrtle Strain of Lafayette; and 3 grandchildren. Services were conducted on Saturday, Oct 24, at the Stewart Funeral Home in Scottsburg with Rev Dick Norman officiating. Burial was in the Mt Carmel Cemetery.
