     1930 Milton, Trimble Co, KY census: has (both b. KY) Walter S Garriott 34, Farmer-General Farm; and Mary E Garriott 27.
     1940 Trimble Co, KY census: has (both b. KY) Walter Garriott 45, Farmer-Own Farm; and Ethel Garriott 37.

     MILITARY: [Trimble Co, KY, misc records, Bk 1/177] Walter S Garriott [US 3.095.637] was inducted 29 May 1918 at Bedford, Trimble Co, KY. At the time of enlistment he was described as 22-1/2 years old, single, a farmer, grey eyes, black hair, dark complexion, 5'-1 1/2" tall. He served at Eavezin Sectoe? [26 Sep-7 Oct 1918], Meuse Argonne? [19 Oct-11 Nov 1918]. He was honorably discharged from the military service, "By reason of convenience of the government." Perhaps the war was over.
 
     1977 WILL: [Trimble Co, KY, Will Bk 4/43, dated 4 Mar 1977] Walter refers to his beloved wife Mary Ethel Garriott, niece Mary Elizabeth Garriott, and nephews Richard Nelson Garriott and Robert Garriott [and their mother, Mrs Helen Garriott] of Evansville, IN.

     BIOGRAPHY: Mary Ethel Austin's father, Samuel, was the son of George R Austin [b. Apr 1852; d. after 1900] and Cassy ___ [b. 1855; d. after 1900]. George R Austin was the son of William Austin and Mary Jane Adams, daughter of John Lewis Adams and Keziah Casey.
     Shortie served three terms as magistrate in Milton and Trout precincts, Trimble Co, KY.
