BIOGRAPHY: Opal was born in Jasper County, Indiana on Melville's farm near Aix, Indiana. She died near Gainesville, Missouri, in the beautiful Ozark Mountains where she and Roy lived. She is buried in Gainesville, Missouri along side of husband Roy. She is buried in Fay Cemetery near Gainesville, MO.
1999 OBITUARY: Hobart-- Jerry T Maher, age 65, of Hobart, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 1999. Jerry had been a lifelong area resident. He retired from NIPSCO in 1996 with 28 years of service as a control room operator and very active in the NIPSCO drug and alcohol abuse program. He was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church, ML McCelland Lodge #357 F & AM, Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend and a member of USW Local #12775.
He is survived by his two sons, Robert (Cindy Clark) Maher and Kelly Maher both of Portage; 2 grandchildren, Cassandra and Danielle; 1 sister, Maxine Garber of Hobart. Funeral services Sunday, October 31, 1999, 3 pm at Augustana Lutheran Church, 206 Kelly Street, Hobart, Rev Ronald Deck officiating. Burial Monday, November 1, 1999 at 10 am at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville. Masonic services Saturday at 7 pm. Visitation Saturday, 2-5 pm and 7-9 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W Old Ridge Road, Hobart.
