     1972 OBITUARY: Mrs Garriott died at Home Hospital where she was admitted 24 Oct. She had been in ill health one year. Born and reared in Mulberry, she moved to Lafayette in 1942. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.

     1999 OBITUARY: Hurby Garriott, Jr, 76, formerly of 615 N. Market St, Delphi, died at 9:35 am Monday, Sept 27, 1999, in the Roudebush Veteran's Hospital, Indianapolis. He had been a patient there for 9 days and in failing health since March.
     He was born on Feb 28, 1923, in Jasper County and attended Jasper County schools. On May 28, 1955, he married Mary Louise "Betty" Vice in Lafayette. She preceded him in death on Dec 26, 1972.
     He owned and operated Hurby's Marathon Station in Jefferson Square for many years and served in the Army during World War II. He also drove a bus for the Indiana Veterans' Home until his retirement. He had resided in Delphi for the past five years, moving there from Lafayette.
     He attended Delphi Pentecostal Church. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9383 in Delphi, American Legion Post 492 in West Lafayette and 40&8 Voiture 364 in Lafayette.
     Surviving are a daughter, Mrs John [Shannon] Venters of Delphi; a sister, Orabelle Pribie of Lafayette; and four brothers, Lawrence, David and Arlon Garriott of Lafayette, and Burgin Garriott of Mulberry. Surviving are three grandchildren: Kelly Rodriguez, Adam Garriott and Anne Garriott; and a great-grandson, Dee Andre Venters. Preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
