     MILITARY: Elvin Garriott [US 45.019.101] entered the Army on 15 Aug 1945 and served during the Army of Occupation, in Germany operating a service men's club from 19 Jan 1946 to 23 Dec 1946. He was discharged 5 Feb 1947, Ft Sheridan, IL, from the 26th Infantry. His MOS was clerk/typist.

     2009 OBITUARY: Elvin Monroe Garriott 85, of Bloomington and formerly of Hoopeston, died at 8:45 am Thursday, 23 July 2009, at St Francis Hospital, Peoria. He was born 27 Feb 1924 to Perry Garriott and Iva (Blankenship) Garriott in Fowler, IN. He married Frances Sheppard on 26 Dec 1945, in Fowler. She preceded him in death. Survivors include a son Tom (Janice) Garriott of Bloomington. He also is survived by five sisters, three brothers, (two grandchildren), two step-grandchildren, and 32 nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a son. Mr Garriott was a retired farmer. He served in the US Army during World War II. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Hoopeston, for 59 years where he served as an elder and deacon. He also was a hospice volunteer and enjoyed following his grandchildren’s basketball games. Services will be at 11 am Monday, 27 July, at First Presbyterian Church, Hoopeston, with the Rev Ann Schwartz officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded with burial at a later date. Visitation: 4-7 pm Sunday at Anderson Funeral Home, Hoopeston. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
