1978 OBITUARY: Albert Leon Garriott, 66, a retired Rt 1 farmer, died at 5 am Monday in St Vincents Hospital, Indianapolis, following a short illness. He had been hospitalized since 13 Aug. Born in Jasper County, he was educated at Earl Park and moved to Benton County in 1946 when he purchased the old Laird farm where he farmed 30 years, retiring in 1976. In 1932 he was married at Ambia to Mabel Oliver. She survives. Mr Garriott was a deacon of Oxford Church of Christ.
Mabel's father, Harvey Oliver's, leg was permanently injured when a corn elevator fell on it.
2015 OBITUARY: Robert E Garriott, 72, of Oxford, IN died unexpectedly at his residence Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015 at 3:30 pm.
Robert was born at Judyville, IN in Warren County, IN August 2, 1942, the son if the late Albert Leon and Mabel B Oliver Garriott. He was a 1960 graduate of Oxford High School where he served as senior class president; played basketball and was selected to attend Boy's State. Robert worked for Eastern Airlines for a brief period and then returned to his roots in Benton County to farm. He had also been employed at ALCOA for a short period. Robert resided in Benton County for most all of his life and spent 50 years farming.
Surviving is his wife, Carol M Owens Garriott whom he married January 24, 1986 along with two daughters, Gail Elaine Green (husband Daniel) of Otterbein, IN; Sarah K Brouillette (companion Larry Dalton) of Phoenix, AZ; a son, Tony Garriott (wife Jenny) of West Lafayette, and by two brothers and two sisters.
Also surviving are ten grandchildren, Mandy (Dale) Whitaker, Keith (Chrystal) Green, Ashley (Ceven) Goodman, Amber (Jesse) Becker, Kordell (Robert) Green, Christy (Brad) Koehler, Holli (Blake) Schoen, Trent (Amy) Brouillette, Connor Schuster-Garriott and Wes Garriott; and by 15 great-grandchildren, Andre Green, Souly, Harley and Keegan Whitaker, Gavin Green, Reann and Grace Weber, Khloe and Kasen Goodman, Sydnee and Tynlee Becker, Carson and Kennady Koehler, Kelhar and Knox Schoen.
Friends may call at the Fowler Christian Church from 5 until 8 pm Monday. The funeral will be held at the Fowler Christian Church 10:30 am Tuesday, Pastor Kirk Zimmerman officiating, with interment at Justus Cemetery at Oxford. 2018 OBITUARY: Kathleen Kay Jones, 74, of Oxford, IN, passed away at Cumberland Point Healthcare in West Lafayette, IN at 5:23 am Friday, May 18, 2018, where she had been a patient the past year and a half. She was born in Green Hill, IN on December 20, 1943, the daughter of the late Albert Leon and Mabel Bernice (Oliver) Garriott and was a graduate of Oxford High School. She married John Russell Jones in Oxford November 4, 1962 and he survives. Kathleen was a member of the Oxford Church of Christ; the Oxford Lions Club; the Dan Patch Home Ec Club; the Musettes; the Wednesday Bowling League and TOPS.
She is survived by her husband; two daughters; one son; two brothers; one sister; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, James Adams Jr; and two brothers, Robert and Jack Garriott.
Friends may call at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, Oxford from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm Wednesday May 23. The funeral service will be held at Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, Oxford at 10:30 am Thursday May 24, Mr Larry McMillan officiating, with interment to follow at Justus Cemetery.

2020 OBITUARY: Barbara Jane Hosterman, 84, of Oxford, IN, passed away at Mulberry Healthcare in Mulberry, IN at 8:00 am on Friday, January 31, 2020, where she had resided the past two years. She was born in Judyville, IN on April 10, 1935, the daughter of the late Leon and Mabel (Oliver) Garriott and was a 1954 graduate of Oxford, IN High School. She married Harvey R “Bud” Hosterman in Attica, IN on March 1, 1958, and he preceded her in death on December 10, 1994. Barbara was a member of the Oxford Church of Christ and the “Sunshine Girls”. She was a homemaker, and enjoyed working with plastic canvas, mushroom hunting, gardening, working puzzle books and collecting anything to do with cats.
Surviving are one son; two brothers; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Kay Jones; and two brothers, Jack and Bob Garriott. Friends may call at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home in Oxford, IN on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 from 10:00 am until the funeral at 11:00 am with Larry McMillan officiating. The interment will follow at Rainsville Cemetery, Rainsville, IN.
