​     1958 OBITUARY: Private funeral for Shelby Garriott, who died Friday in a local hospital, will be Monday at 1 pm at Pearson Mortuary. Vault entombment will be at Riverview Abbey Mausoleum. Members of St. Helens Lodge No 32, AF&AM, will participate in the services.
     Mr Garriott was born Nov 2, 1884, in Turtle [sic] County, KY. He was a resident of Portland more than 50 years. He resided at 818 NW 17th Ave. Mr Garriott, a registered nurse, had been in charge of industrial first aid work on a number of large construction projects, including Timberline Lodge. Until his retirement, he was engaged in building maintenance work.
     He is survived by the widow, Laura; two daughters, Mrs Anne Dupree and Mrs Georgia R Rice, both of Portland; four grandchildren, and one brother, Knoble of Bedford, KY. Mr Garriott was a member of the Christian Church and of Mizpah Chapter, Order of Eastern Star.

She was a former teacher and began teaching in the county's one-room school system. Married 20 Dec 1916 to Knoble Garriott, who survived. Preceded by two bros. Chan and Clarence Cutshaw.

​     1995 OBITUARY: Dorothy Laverne Joyce Pyles 98, of Bedford, KY passed away on May 9, 2018 at The Waters of Clifty Falls in Madison, IN. She was born on March 20, 1920 to the late Allen and Effie Alice Garrett Joyce in Milton, KY.
     Dorothy lived a very active life, working tirelessly tending to the family farm, helping set and strip tobacco, raising a garden, growing, canning and freezing everything her family needed to eat. She took great pride in preparing huge meals and her table was always open for anyone to eat. At ninety-five years of age Dorothy was still active in the Trimble Co. Senior Citizens Group. In her spare time she loved to quilt; she quilted each of her grandchildren and great- grandchildren a beautiful work of art to cherish. Her hands were never idol, doing crafts, and sending them all over Kentucky. Dorothy attended services at Corn Creek Baptist Church.
     She leaves to mourn her passing, her children, Joyce Suter Pyles and his companion Bobbie of Bedford, KY, Norma Jean Condrey of Richmond, KY. Mary Ann Horine and her husband Donald T of Hanover, IN, Clauette R. Kramer of Hanover, IN, Carroll Eugene Pyles of Carrollton, KY, Douglas Lee Pyles and his wife Linda of Madison, IN, Gayle Norman of Bedford, KY; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-four great- grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and many loving family and friends all of whom will miss her dearly.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Webb Suter Pyles; two brothers and two sisters.

​     1997 OBITUARY: H Ellis Joyce, 84, of Milton, died Monday, Jan 27, at Memorial Hospital in Leesburg, FL. He was born on July 19, 1913, in Trimble County, KY, the son of Allen and Effie Garriott Joyce. He was a farmer, and a member of the Corn Creek Baptist Church and Milton Masonic Lodge No. 947.
     Surviving are his wife, Helen Joyce; two daughters, Sue Bray of Bedford, KY, and Brenda McDowell of Milton; one brother, Walter Joyce of Milton; two sisters, Rhelma Moore of Milton; one brother, Walter Joyce of Milton; two sisters, Thelma Moore of Milton and Dorothy Pyles of Bedford, KY; eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Garner "Shortie" Joyce; and one sister, Vera Baker Bailey. Services will be at 2 pm Friday at the Ransdell Funeral Home in Bedford, KY., with burial in the Moffett Cemetery.

​     2007 OBITUARY; Walton D Joyce, 91, of Milton, KY, died Wednesday, Feb, 7, 2007, at his residence. He was born Jan 25, 1916, in Milton, KY, the son of Allen and Effie Joyce. He was a member of Corn Creek Baptist Church for over 70 years, where he served as deacon, song leader, and Sunday school teacher. He was a member of the Trimble County Cattleman's Association. He enjoyed farming and keeping the pasture clean.
     He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth M Moore Joyce; one son, Barry Joyce and his wife, Jan of Milton, KY; one sister, Dorothy Pyles of Bedford, KY; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ellis Joyce; and two sisters, Vera Baker Bailey and Thelma Moore.
     The funeral will be at 2 pm Saturday at Corn Creek Baptist Church in Milton, KY. Burial will be in Moffett Cemetery. Friends may call after 5 pm today at Ransdell Funeral Home in Bedford, KY, and at the church from 10 am until the service Saturday. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Hospice of Louisville.

     2010 OBITUARY: Clytie Cordelia Garriott, 80, of the Beaumont area, died Friday, March 12, 2010, at Silsbee Oaks Nursing Center. A native of San Augustine County, Texas and longtime resident of the Beaumont area, she was born July 29, 1929, to Lonnie and Vera Gladys (Dees) Dickerson. Clytie most of all loved her family, loved to travel, and loved to meet new people.
     She is survived by her daughters, Cordelia "Cordy" Cammack of Lumberton and Cindy Garriott of Mauriceville; son, Pascal DeWayne Garriott of Beaumont; brother, Pascal Dickerson of Silsbee; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Noble Henley Garriott; her parents, Lonnie and Gladys Dickerson; daughter, Shirley Goins; son, Noble Garriott, Jr.; sister, June Westmoreland; son-in-law, John Cammack; and her infant great-grandchild, Ashley Angel Cammack.
     Her graveside service will be 10:00 am Monday, March 15, 2010, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont. A gathering of her family and friends will be Sunday, March 14, 2010, from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm at Broussard's, 1605 N Major Drive, Beaumont.
