1978 OBITUARY: Mrs Artie A Wood, 96, former Westfield resident died Saturday, Oct. 28, 1978, in the Higgins Health Facility in Tipton. Mrs Wood had been a resident of the facility for the past two years. She had worked as a practical nurse and many years ago was housemother at the Indiana University Medical Center senior girls' dormitory. Mrs Wood was born Aug 16, 1882, in Washington County to George and Penelope (Garriott) McKnight. She was the widow of James W Wood, who died in 1926. She is survived by a son, James W of Westfield; and five daughters, Mrs Winfreda Hillard and Mrs Marjorie Twilling, both of Tipton; Mrs Charlotte Stuart of Sheridan; Mrs Sarah Jones of Elwood and Mrs Sue Jessup of Mooresville. Mrs Wood also is survived by 31 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
