BIOGRAPHY: Kenton Taylor, at 17 years old, having pulled tan bark for money, followed his brother, James Montague, to Indiana where he met Amanda Pearl Slaughter. Amanda had five sisters and four brothers, one of which was Martha Zorah Blankenship's first husband. Kenton was employed in various occupations, and for many years was the mechanical foreman for several grain elevators for the Babcock Grain Company.
1941 OBITUARY: Kenton took his own life in the early morning of 23 Apr 1941. He was found by his housekeeper, Mrs Elsie Martin, in his coal shed adjoining the garage dying of a gunshot wound to the head, and died shortly after being admitted to the hospital. He had been despondent over his wife who had been critically ill for months and was currently lying in a state of coma. His sister, Mrs Carl Schenk, of Elkhard, IN, had been in town caring for Amanda. He apparently thought his wife was dead, and didn't want to live without her. She subsequently died three days later and they were buried together at Weston Cemetery.
