     MILITARY:16 Nathan Trueblood, at 39 years old, enlisted as a private in Company F, 66th Indiana Infantry, commanded by Capt Alfred Morris at New Albany, Floyd County, IN, on 19 Aug 1862 to serve 3 years. He was on the muster roll of Company F from enlistment to 30 Jun 1864 is reported present for duty. Jul and Aug 1864, and is in the Field Hospital, GA on 27 Jul 1864. Sep & Oct 1864 he is present, and on all subsequent rolls. He was mustered out and honorably discharged on 3 Jun 1865 at Indianapolis, IN. The 66th Indiana Infantry was the same unit in which many of his future wife's cousins served.

     PENSION:16 Nathan Trueblood's first application a pension was dated 21 Apr 1876. In his pension application [claim 214.372] on 7 Jul 1882 Nathan Trueblood was described as 59 years old, 5'-10" tall, dark complexion, dark hair, and dark eyes. He was treated at the Regimental Hospital in Corinth, (Alcorn Co) Mississippi, in Jul 1863, and, "Contracted bilious fever and, for five weeks, was unable to return to duty, and said disease affected his head to such an extent as to cause a total and permanent loss of his hair." He was also treated at the Regimental Hospital at Marietta, GA for diarrhea and lung disease from exposure..., also causing hernia of right side from hard coughing.
     1874 General Affidavit: John Hardin, 53, provided an affidavit that Nathan, "contracted billious fever and was unable for the space of five weeks to return to duty." The disease affected his head and was the cause of a permanent loss of hair.
     1877 General Affidavit: Captain Alfred Morris, 46, provided an affidavit on 16 Jun 1877 before a notary, stating that Nathan Trueblood was well known to him and in Company F, 66th Regiment. He said at the time of the organization of the company that, "Nathan was a healthy sound man, and had a good coat of natural hair upon his head." He added that Nathan, in the summer of 1863, about Jul, he was taken sick while the company was in Corinth, MS, with a fever, and was confined to his bed for several weeks. "When he got up his hair commenced to fall off his head. He was completely bald by Sep 1963. Although he remained in the service until the company was mustered out, his health was never good after that."

     1899 GUARDIANSHIP: 16 Thomas H Everitt, age 42, appeared before the Scott Co, IN Circuit Court on 31 Oct 1899 stating that he, as the legal guardian of Alge A Trueblood, the legitimate child of Nathan Trueblood and Emily Garriott Trueblood, should receive the pension provided for her.
