     1905 NEWSPAPER ARTICLE: (excerpts from the article) 8 feared dead in aftermath of city flood. Houston's multi-million-dollar mop-up moved ahead Wednesday in the wake of a killer storm which produced a 100-year flood matching that of Hurricane Carla in 1961. Seven persons died and an eighth was presumed drowned in incidents in which the swirling water was several feet deep in some places. Some persons lost more than property in the flood. The dead included: Patricia Wilhoite, 8, who drowned in a storm drain during the flooding Tuesday afternoon.
