1946 OBITUARY: William was the son of William Fletcher and Martha Cross Garrett. He married Clara Viola Dillon on March 6, 1892. They were the parents of 9 children that I am aware of; Jay Vernon, Roe Quinton, Gladys Hilda, Lester Jennings, Giles Winfred, Mae Leota, Pansy Pearl, Donald Sylvester and Lewis Fletcher. The 1900 Federal Census lists his occupation as farmer.

2017 OBITUARY: William N Garrett, 80, of Marion died Saturday November 25, 2017 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Per Bill’s request there will be no visitation or service. Iowa Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife Carol; two daughters Patricia (Dave) Leininger of Waterloo and Sheryl Garrett of North Liberty, two sisters Shirley Morgan of Clarinda, Wanda Lear of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin and a brother Richard (Ann) of South English. He is also survived by two grandchildren Kyle and Sara Leininger both of Waterloo. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Lavonne Hamilton. Bill was born on November 18, 1937 in South English the son of Roe and Cuma Nielson Garrett. Bill married Carol K Parks on June 21, 1964 in La Porte City.
He was a test technician at Rockwell for over 40 years retiring in 1995. Bill proudly served in the Air Force and enjoyed fishing in Hayward, Wisconsin, watching the St Louis Cardinals and working crossword puzzles. He will be remembered for the love he had for his children, grandchildren and how proud he was of them. “The family would like to thank the staff at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy for the wonderful care given to Bill.” Iowa Cremation.

2018 OBITUARY: Wanda Lear, 88, of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, died Sunday, April 1, 2018 at Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin with her family by her side. Wanda was born September 23, 1929 to Roe and Cuma (Nielsen) Garrett in South English, Iowa. She graduated as Valedictorian in her senior class. Wanda was united in marriage with Jack Lear in 1957. One son Murray was born to this union. Wanda worked as the church secretary for twenty two years and continued to volunteer at the Gunderson Health Clinic and the church after retirement. She enjoyed doing puzzles, watching sports, meeting her friends for coffee/lunch and going on trips. Wanda was known to be kind and caring.
Wanda is survived by her son, Murray (Roberta) Lear of Praire du Chien, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Rylie, Reaghan and Garrett Lear all of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin; and her siblings, Dick (Ann) Garrett and Shirley (Bill) Morgan. Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Lear in 1992; her parents, Roe and Cuma Garrett; a sister, LaVonne Hamilton; and a brother, Bill Garrett.
Visitation will be from 3-7 pm on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. There will also be a one hour visitation before services at the church on Monday. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Monday, April 9, 2018 at United Methodist Church, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin with Rev. Barb Cook as the officiant. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin is helping the family with arrangements.
